The new 11th Edition (November 2016) of the ‘Whitsundays Bible’ reflects the latest developments in the area, of which there have been many.
Since the 10th Edition Revised was published in 2014 several of the island resorts in the Whitsundays have shut their doors, and some new owners are planning multi-million dollar developments. The legendary Hayman Island has had an extensive refurbishment and is now operated by the internationally recognised One and Only resort consortium.
On the mainland there has been extensive redevelopment at Port of Airlie, with a modern cruise terminal operated by Cruise Whitsundays, a bus terminal, and there is renewed interest in new housing lots and other commercial development around The Boathouse apartments and shopping complex.
Abell Point Marina is under new management, which has given this facility a huge face-lift, with new expanded parking facilities and other amenities. It is on track to become a major part of the social fabric of the Whitsundays with new open public spaces, restaurants, a yacht club and new incentives for marina occupants.
The information on anchorages in the book has been completely updated to reflect the latest situation on the water in the Whitsundays – moorings, reef protection marks, current fishing regulations, and many changes in facilities for yachties at a number of locations, including South Molle Island, Hook Island, Lindeman and Brampton islands and Keswick Island.
A majority of the pages in the book have had some addition or amendment to reflect the current situation.
The 10th edition sells at a recommended retail price of $94.95.
