The 12th Edition of 100 Magic Miles incorporates many changes resulting from the introduction in August 2017 of a new Whitsundays Management Plan for the Whitsundays section of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. In addition, Cyclone Debbie in March 2017 had a significant impact on the area.
The 12th Edition represents the latest up-to-date information including the introduction of 60 new moorings to the island anchorages, changes in the operations of several island resorts, changes in recommendations as to the best diving and snorkeling sites, the latest information on camping on the islands, fishing in the Whitsundays, and an update on recommended first aid for marine stings.
The information on anchorages in the book has been completely updated to reflect the latest situation on the water in the Whitsundays — moorings, reef protection marks, current fishing regulations, and many changes in facilities for yachties at a number of locations, including South Molle Island, Hook Island, Lindeman and Brampton islands and Keswick Island.
A majority of the pages in the book have had some addition or amendment to reflect the current situation.
